DNA NOTES
Date: Day after Guy Fawkes
LEGEND: Dna, chro (chromosome), nuke (nucleus) genes
INTRO:
Are Dna, chro and genes related?
We, plants and animals are made of Trillions cells
You can only see cells with a microscope
The nucleus is the brain
Each chromosome contain different DNA
Humans have 23 pairs of chro’s
Chromosomes are made out of DNA
Each DNA base is made out of A T C G
The chro is in the nuke, and the nuke is in the cell
Only C and G, T and A, G and C fit together due to their shape
Codon = Word
Gene = Chapter
Chromosome = Book
When a sequence of of 3 protein bases is like a word = Codon
Then when 5 or thousands are like a chapter = gene
If you have more genes you can read it properly.
2(+) genes = chromosome
Genes made out of codon
Codons made out of Nucleotides (Bases) (A T G C)

Cheek Cells
Today in Room 4 we are studying cheek cells through the microscope in our class.
Our hypothesis: Our hypothesies is that by looking through the microscope we will see cells and organelles.
There are our equipment: we had a lollypop stick to swab lepa's mouth for the cheek cells, A slide to put the cells in, sodium chloride to make our cells more "slippery"
It was fun.

This week in Room 4 Literacy we had to answer a few slides relating to digestion, animal testing and others
Cats Vs Dogs
Cats vs Dogs the age old question regarding which household pet is better. Some like dogs and Some like cats. But i’m a Dog person so here is my essay on why dogs make better pets than cats.
Point #1 - The Protection of Dogs
Everybody wants protection, and what’s better than a Dog? Some dog breeds specialise in protection. Like a Doberman or a Boxer, two big and intimidating dogs which will surely protect You, Your house and Your family.
Point #2 - Potential
The potential of dogs are what make them such a great animal. Imagine you’re blind and alone, what else can guide you to point a to point b? A short, stubby cat? No, a hip high dog? Yes! Breeds like a Golden Retriever, a Bullmastiff and a Great dane are perfect for their height and intellect. Making them great service dogs.
Point #3 - Dogs promote activeness
Cats are lazy and stay at home all the time. While dogs are fun and love the outside and fun interaction is key for a good relationship with an animal. And some dog breeds love play like: A Border Collie or a Belgian Tervuren promoting an active lifestyle
So I hope that this piece of writing has persuaded you to be a dog person if you were not already.

How Is Olive Oil Made?
Do you know how to make Olive OIl? If not here is an essay which will explain how to make Olive Oil.
Do you know what olive oil is? Olive oil is an oil extracted from olives. It is used in gourmet or regular kitchens. It comes in a variety of types like: Extra Virgin, Virgin and Refined.
Firstly, the olives are hand or machine picked from their trees. The machine is called an automated harvester and it shakes the olives off the branches. They get washed to take away the twigs and leaves. Then they get shipped away into a factory to be processed.
When they arrive in the factory, the olives are grinded. They have to be grinded slowly because when there's too much friction the grinded olives are heated. When the olives get over 27° the oil loses value as it should be cold pressed.
Next the grinded olives get spun in a machine called a centrafuge. This machine spins the pulp quickly to separate the oil from the fruit and water. It works because the liquids are different densities. The pulp gets recycled as it is used for fertilizer or animal feed.
Then that oil gets stored into steel tanks and it is siphoned into bottles. The bottles are dark green to block out UV light which would damage the oil. The bottles then get labeled.
Finally the oil is sent to supermarkets to be sold. Now you know what the life of an olive is as it is turned into olive oil!

Yr8 Camp 2019
I step outside my porch to greet the morning air, excited because today the 15 of May 2019 we have the annual Year 8 leadership camp.
Step forward a bit and we were stepping on the bus. I sit at the back with my friend Jaylim. The ride was eventful with singing and joyful stories. When we arrived we sat down on the damp ground in our team lines: Kauaeranga, Thames, Kauri and Coromandel. I was in Kaueranga with one of my best friends Lepa.
Some time later we had our first activity: Air Rifles. We shot some metal studs at some paper targets. I had about 3 turns when it was time for dinner. We had very delectable tacos (Yum!)
The second day we had some more activities like: Flying Fox, Paintball, Go Karts and Railway jiggers. The Go Karts was the best because my boss in my school jobs said helpful tips about how to to good so I made it in about 1m and 30 seconds in 3 laps. Then in dinner we had some delicous butter chicken and had a polyniesian themed night. The teachers made us make an group item and me and my friend Lepa sang and we had a ginourmous round of applause and we ended up winning our group talent show. Then coming second overall!
The third and last day we ate breakfast and cleaned our rooms and bunks. Then we had awards from all the activities. After we jumped on the bus and traveled for about 10 minutes before arriving on a water garden called Ngatea Water Gardens. It was a "Joke Garden" Because a lot of comical props and thingymajings in the water garden. After all of that we rode for an unknown amount of time (because I slept) and arrived on Pt England School ground. We grabbed bags and made our way to the "Breeze" then after a bit of banter we went home.
This camp is one the best camp I've been to, because my friends were there and I tried out alot of things I would normaly do. But learned alot and this camp will forever be remembered.

Imagination Stories #1
Warning!
This story is only my imagination some are wrong or nonsensical. So… here’s the most random story
One day in a suburban neighbourhood named Kingsman there was a boy named Kieran Tripp he went to a school named Kilham Primary. His life was eventful, he had many companions and adversaries. His best friend Leo had a sesquipedalian last name it was Olteforionetulopoltec9olaolmetobevifaffff687
Then one day while they were doing literacy and Kieran wanted to go to the bathroom when inside, Kieran noticed something unusual. He saw a metal barrel filled with toxic waste. It was just there in the floor lying down like a forgotten doll. He touched it nudged it with his foot and suddenly… it burst open and for some reason the drain connected with the water supply. I thought “Which doltish person built the bathroom!?”
Then I went out to stop people drinking water but alas a year 5 pupil drank the water, people lined up behind him do drink as well but. So I ran as fast I can to stop them drinking but I was bad at running so… I tripped. Then a another kid saw me then said… “That’s why your last name’s tripp.” Then he laughed and left.
Then I noticed the wasted contained metal and turned the kids… ZOMBIE ROBOTS! So I grabbed the nearest thing a metal pole. I defended myself with the pole whacking the ZOMROTS away. I tried to find refuge but then I saw the pole glowing, and I realized… It was a magic pole! So I went back to finish the ZOMBOTS. I saw a open shipping container and forced the ZOMBOTS into it to be never seen again.
Everybody noticed what I did and gave a medal. It was nice I’m thinking of being a hunter when I grow up. Eh

Google Translate Word Story
I had an idea where I write a story where I take the words and put it in google translate then, change it to different languages then different or same words come out. The story is about a boy named Jakey Mclikker and his adventures
One day a boy named Jakey McLikker who lived across the street from his school. He was confident… Very confident. To the point where he would do anything in public. Like one time he jumped on a stage while a band was playing and he sang his favorite song “We Are Number One” From LazyTown, and he sang it dreadfully bad. Everybody Booed at this terrible singing, but he still sang, one even threw a potato at him but he carried on making headlines around the world earning the nickname “Confident Likker”
______________________________________________________
Once Jake Maclekker, a young boy who lives near the school. I think it is absolutely firm. Public Works. Lazy showed a lot of funny songs and his beloved, named «The First Dear». All but suffered a terrible song, they still read it and wore it. However, they will continue to understand the world "Rick Hui (Hicks Hui)».
______________________________________________________
As you can see it’s different nonsensical and as I said different.
English - Japanese - Catalan - Irish - Bosnian - Bulgarian - Azerbaijani - Hawaiian - Danish - Korean - Belarusian - English
